As she was well aware, her insistence on its mysterious nature is calculated to discompose some of its more complacent friends. Nevertheless, the best chapters here show a crispness and a focus that demand attention from everyone interested in the phenomena of human reason." Ethics

Continuing the morality debate

For readers aquainted with philosophical jargon, this book makes sense; for the common reader, her dense prose requires at least a dictionary. Jean Hampton deconstructs naturalistic philosophy (the idea that moral claims should be explained using scientific method and logic) and asserts a moral objectivist position (that moral claims are objective in nature and external to the individual). Her ideas are interesting and provacative, especially because of the naturalistic trend prevalent in society right now. Most people would agree with Hampton's adversaries--that there are not external norms that dictate our morality--as moral claims are usually seen as a product of our relative upbringing or society. However, she persuasively writes against this common notion, though it is hard to grasp her entire point at times. I enjoyed the book, though it could have gone through a couple more revisions if she hadn't died before she was able to. Her early death is a deprivation, especially as a loss to the discussion of modern moral philosophy.

Driftwood Deeds: What a wonderful beginning to a beautiful Dominant/submissive romance. Iris is visiting Paul to interview him for the magazine she works for but she got a whole lot more than an interview. Paul lives a solitary life but he has done his homework on Iris so when she arrives he leads her into a sultry and sexy submissive experience, something Iris never knew she needed or wanted. A connection is born that neither wants to break when she has to return to the city. Will Paul be able to "date" Iris? Can they make a long distance Dom/sub relationship work?

Trading Tides: We continue Iris and Paul's relationship with Iris telling us the story. We get to experience their relationship from the submissive viewpoint, helping us understand what Iris craves and desires from her interactions with Paul. She truly loves to submit and please him which you get to experience first-hand as she takes us into this new world with her. Distance is a challenge for them, it leaves Iris feeling lost at times but Paul steps up with a fabulous surprise. Beautifully Written Series - Intense, Poignant, and Mesmerizing Read

The Breaking in Waves Series, by Laila Blake, was sent to me for an honest review. I thank the author for gifting me with her written treasure. It was a most memorable and gratifying task to read and review this series.

The Breaking in Waves trilogy showcases a dominant/submissive relationship. In Driftwood Deeds, a reporter (Iris) arrives for an interview with a reclusive writer (Paul) at his home in a quaint seaside town. Upon meeting, the protagonists are drawn to one another and the story depicts the blossoming of their relationship. In Trading Tides, Iris and Paul experience the challenges of a long-distance romance. In Saltwater Skin, the obstacle of long distance ends-Iris leaves her job in the city and moves to Paul's home in the seaside village-and assimilation of their separate lives unfolds.

This beautifully written series is an intense, poignant, and compelling read. All three novellas were mesmerizing, sensual and enchanting from cover to cover. Ms. Blake's writing style is beyond compare; she has great talent in creating rich, complex characters. It was a pleasure to be immersed into this couple's story.

I found this series refreshing and beautifully written. Iris discovers submission at the hands of Paul. I love that Paul gently guides her through their journey as D/s. Iris responds beautifully to Paul's gentle way, relishing and thriving under his hands. I love this story, the characters, I love the way the author weaves her words together. Just beautiful.

Amazon for the win again.

I got this book for more than 40 dollars less than what my bookstore was selling it for. The product condition is very good. I have been buying more books than any other product from amazon, and I am always happy with the products I get. The quality and price of the books amazon chooses to sell is part of the reason I keep coming back for more.

This update takes place approximately 12 months after the original. The book was used in an actual course for extra credit and for homework as well as a study guide for exams.

If you are learning about Microsoft office for the first time, this book is actually very, very helpful.

I never realized learning about all the small things in Office would be so confusing, and I ASSEMBLED MY OWN DESKTOP COMPUTER!!!

The steps are very detailed (walks you while holding your hand), it has picture to show you what you are looking for in some instances. Important information is highlighted and information is straight to the point. This book doesn't talk, and talk and talk. Rather, there isn't an abundance of text, its straight to the point.

There were points where I did use the internet for certain steps, but that's only because I wanted to progress faster. The book alone will do fine, this book helps and takes the con out of confusing.
