She devotes her energy assisting parents and caregivers in developing preschool skills in their children and refreshing the preschool teaching skills of grandparents.

OMG this book is absolutely wonderful and a true blessing to me as a stay at home mother of two-under-two! Me being pretty much the first official stay at home mom in my personal circle, I secretly worry about whether my child(ren) are being left behind because they are not in a childcare facility where curriculum is taught, as well as the criticism you can get from others about what are they learning at home with you all day. Well, this book is great for any parent, but especially for the stay at home parent of small children who has no idea how to order their child's day and give age appropriate and stimulating activities that will help your child stay on point with their learning and development.
Its great because its very practical first of all...you wont have to go halfway around the world to get the materials or be a genius, or have oodles of free time to put together a weekly activity for your child. Its perfect for busy moms and parents in that way.
Also, it deals with the very real issue of behavioral problems of young children very effectively as this was an issue for my son approaching the terrible two's! He was a culprit of just about every behavior issue in the book but I feel more confident now addressing those issues in a positive way with this book.
Lastly, I love the fact that its simple and not too complicated...Just one activity to concentrate on every week helps you and the child focus on one thing at a time and also not to break the bank in buying oodles of supplies and materials trying to teach your kids. Excellent book, I would recommend to anyone with young children and especially SAHM and parents!

I've used this book for two kids, now, and it remains one of my most useful parenting book purchases. Sometimes, through the sleep deprivation and constant nursing of your kid's infancy, the most you can muster is one new project per week, and it helps make you feel like a success when that one project is captivating and multi-use. My kids have enjoyed and returned to so many of the games and activities we've done from this book, and always with a fresh perspective, new developmental milestones translating to new ways of play, and no money spent. The easy homemade toys from oatmeal containers, repurposed packing material, etc., serve as jumping off points for a more creative way of looking at the way children learn and are entertained. Valuable and timeless.

Complex and Compelling

I was in the mood for a good book and this was very good. I see that there are no summaries from the other reviewers so I'll do a quick overview:

Richard, our H, was married to the exquisite Gwladys, who died in childbirth. He is then betrothed to the 10 yr old De Lacey daughter of his enemy, John De Lacey. The child also dies so John, the villain, then arranges another contract between his niece, Elizabeth and Richard. Elizabeth, our h, has been kept in desperate conditions in a priory. She is very thin and her hair is hacked off and so when our gorgeous H meets her, she is not at all attractive. So begins their story and through wonderful story telling, our H and h slowly fall in love. It is wonderful to read about. There is an element of the dark arts in this book but it only serves to enhance the villainous plot against our main characters.

This book is well worth reading!

I borrowed this book from the library and read it on my Kindle.
Elizabeth and Richard are married not for love but for a political alliance promoted by her uncle Sir John de Lacy. Elizabeth agrees to get out of the nunnery where she has been "incarcerated" because she refused to marry a prior suitor. Richard agrees because he needs an heir but he is wary and doesn't trust Sir John. In spite of their differences they form an uneasy bond. I enjoyed this book, I liked the way the characters began to trust one another slowly building to a love match. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is that the ending felt rushed and I wasn't sure what happened to one of the bad guys.

Continuing the morality debate

For readers aquainted with philosophical jargon, this book makes sense; for the common reader, her dense prose requires at least a dictionary. Jean Hampton deconstructs naturalistic philosophy (the idea that moral claims should be explained using scientific method and logic) and asserts a moral objectivist position (that moral claims are objective in nature and external to the individual). Her ideas are interesting and provacative, especially because of the naturalistic trend prevalent in society right now. Most people would agree with Hampton's adversaries--that there are not external norms that dictate our morality--as moral claims are usually seen as a product of our relative upbringing or society. However, she persuasively writes against this common notion, though it is hard to grasp her entire point at times. I enjoyed the book, though it could have gone through a couple more revisions if she hadn't died before she was able to. Her early death is a deprivation, especially as a loss to the discussion of modern moral philosophy.

Joe Cortina is a retired Florida businessman who has done substantial world traveling – some purely as a ‘tourist’; and some in areas - shall we say - ‘nothing to do with vacationing’. He has served as a Green Beret, Special Operations Officer, Intelligence Investigator, IBM representative and Honeywell scientist. Cortina’s intelligence work covers a span of 15 years, some of it overseas in Central America, and also in the Middle-East. In later years he worked as President of his own manufacturing company. Cortina describes his political posture is ‘conservative’ and his religious values as Christian.

Great book, easy to read, good reflections and an extraordinary woman. Looses one star for all the formatting errors and the unsupported Table of Content.

I will remember the chapters about social companies, the reflections about relationships and the 13%.
