Just as in reality, women of Shakespeare’s dramas have been bound to rules and conventions of the patriarchal Elizabethan era. Therefore, it was very common back in Elizabethan England to compel woman into marriages in order to receive power, legacy, dowry or land in exchange.
Even though the Queen herself was an unmarried woman, the roles of woman in society were extremely restricted. Single women have been the property of their fathers and handed over to their future husbands through marriage.
In Elizabethan time, women were considered as the weaker sex and dangerous, because their sexuality was supposedly mystic and therefore feared by men.
Women of that era were supposed to represent virtues like obedience, silence, sexual chastity, piety, humility, constancy, and patience.
All these virtues, of course, have their meaning in relationship to men.
The role allocation in Elizabethan society was strictly regulated; men were the breadwinners and woman had to be obedient housewives and mothers.
However, within this deprived, tight and organized scope, women have been represented in most diverse ways in Shakespearean Drama.
The construction of female characters in Shakespeare’s plays reflects the Elizabethan image of woman in general. For all that, Shakespeare supports the English Renaissance stereotypes of genders, their roles and responsibilities in society, he also puts their representations into question, challenges, and also revises them.

Excellent resource for SCRD

I find this book to be extremely comprehensive, understandable, and interesting. I have learned a great deal about SCRD through this book, and I recommend it to all of my doctoral students pursuing SCRD dissertations and research projects. This is the primary resource we refer to for all SCRD questions. Highly recommended.

Great for my son

This book of worksheets is a great supplement to what your child is learning in school. I purchased this workbook, along with a couple of others, to help my son, who just changed schools. His new school is behind his previous school and I want to help him keep progressing and not get behind. My son has a learning disability and it helps for us to work together and spend extra time on subjects he struggles to master. I use these workbooks during school vacations and summer break to help my son keep his skills growing and to reinforce what he learned at school. I wish there was some background material for each of the subjects covered in the science worksheets so I could teach the concepts to my son, but that's what Google is for, I guess. These worksheets are perfect! We do one page of each subject a day and it's just enough to accomplish our goals. I highly recommend these books for parents and teachers!

This series has daily practice questions on each topic/ lesson in 5th grade science. This book stresses on basic facts which all students should know. Once they know the basics, they should be able to attempt more challenging questions which requires application of these basic facts. This book is suitable for students who have time constraints or cannot focus that long. Each day has only about 4 questions to master. (some multiple choice, fill in the blanks and open ended questions)
I wish the answer key in this book would gives more information required to answer open ended questions. There are no lessons before the questions, so you need to have a reference book or go online to read up about the topic first

Not a daily program

I thought this book could be used for a daily program. Each lesson does not give the background knowledge necessary for success. The book could be used as supplemental practice after the science topic is taught is taught formally.

A comprehensive, up-to-date look at genetic modification

I enjoyed this book because it is an up-to-date look at genetic modification. It explains all the major methods including zinc finger technology, TALENS and CRISPR-Cas9. However, a prior knowledge of biology is required to understand a lot of what author Jim Kozubek discusses. His discussions are comprehensive and he gets a lot of his materials through interviews. This is very interesting but some of the quotes are so long I forgot who he was interviewing. Sometimes he goes into too much detail and I would see the trees, not the forest. Kozubek also takes several detours that detract from the book. His discussion of Chomsky was incomprehensible and his discussion of Mary Shelley was interesting but largely irrelevant. His dives into philosophy were equally unappealing. However his discussions of the potential for gene editing and the ethical and legal implications were very good. Overall, despite the faults, I can recommend this book to anyone with a background in biology who wants to learn more about the subject.
