World-renowned author writes world-wide book

I'm on a Mary Gostelow kick, having most of her books and wanting to share what a brilliant needlewoman, explorer and world-renowned author she is. This book is stunning in its variety, wealth of information and color photos. See the first two Images above: the table of contents shows her in numerous countries on every populated continent. The front cover of the book is an embroidery from Goa, west India: beetle-wing embroidery (using real beetles' wings!) incorporated with rich goldwork. The Images I've shared are of folk or native costumes from everywhere. While there are many adorned fabrics, rugs, linens, hats, decorations and the like, I thought it would be interesting to see how easily a country may be identified by its people's clothing and how similar so many cultures' clothing is. Almost every area has some form of whitework, some form of goldwork. Many costumes are worn every day while others are for only specific ceremonies and maybe worn only once in a lifetime, like our wedding dresses. The practical uses and making of the embroideries are explicitly discussed.
This is a largish book with 282 pages, each one sprawling with photos Ms. Gostelow or her photographer husband have taken. Throughout the book are patterns and diagrams to make the garments or replicate the stitches as desired. The author has done a superlative job in this epic work. Consider supplementing it with her other books that span the world or specific lands:

This is a great book for any fiber/embroidery enthusiast. It goes into the origins of motifs and embroidery techiniques from different places in the world.

This book shows interesting details of embroidery from around the world, and specific instructions for creating projects inspired by the traditional designs. The photos and historical descriptions have greatly contributed to my knowledge of international design and needlework. If I had to choose one embroidery book for inspiration, this would be it!
